April 25, 2008 -Management Team for Everest Skydive Arriving Soon in Kathmandu
Nigel Gifford, the founder of High and Wild, arrived in Kathmandu yesterday. High and Wild, which is a UK based adventure company is organizing the first ever Skydiving programme in front of Mt Everest (29,035ft.) as well as the first ever Himalayan skydiving programme, in partnership with its local operator Explore Himalaya.
According to Mr.Gifford, the rest of the management team for Everest Skydive will be arriving in the next few days to make the final reconnaissance on the drop zone at Shyangboche. They will be bringing along with them the oxygen equipment, the parachutes and the flight suits. They will be preparing the drop zone ready for Sept/ Oct later this year.
Mr.Gifford says that, "There are 25 jumpers coming from the USA, UK, Spain, South Africa, South America, Vietnam and two skydivers from India, with room for more people to particitape. The oldest participant is 72 years old and the youngest is 17 years old. Some of the funds raised from the skydive shall be donated to Each One Teach One project."
